About the Program (4)

What is Weight No More?

Program Summary:

Weight No More is a physician supervised,  medication assisisted,  medical weight loss program that emphasizes importance of long term weight management.   Will you lose weight quickly at the beginning of your program?  Very likely, yes.  Most of our patients enjoy remarkable weight loss results in the first few weeks and months on the Weight No More program.  But Dr. Skversky encourages patients to think long term and focus on the rewards of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight for a lifetime.   This is where the Weight No More program is vastly different from any other weight loss program you have tried in the past.

Dr. Skversky talks about the program:

At Weight No More, I treat overweight and obesity the same way I treat diabetes and hypertension, using combination drug therapy, in addition to diet and exercise protocols. I consider this to be a long term program since we’re treating a long term problem. Although diet and exercise are essential adjuncts of any prudent comprehensive program, they rarely, by themselves, result in long term weight loss control. (You already knew that.)

How much does it cost?

Note:    We are putting together a more comprehensive answer to this question,  to give you a better overview of what fees you can expect on a monthly basis. The cost of the program is surprisingly affordable in comparison to most established weight loss programs that offer much less, in the way of medical supervision and tangible help in your effort to lose weight.

Dr. Skversky has focused his medical practice to the treatment of the overweight patient for the past 18  years.  His experience and expertise in the field helps patients avoid wasting their hard-earned money on worthless supplements and injections that do nothing more than slim your wallet!

A comment from Dr. S:

Finally, although I know that Weight No More’s long term success is pounds and pounds lighter and less expensive than most, if not all, commercial or hospital based programs, if a patient is having financial difficulty, they are encouraged to speak with me personally for assistance. Of course, there is no charge if after the initial office consultation, physical examination and explanation of medication, side effects, etc., a patient decides not to begin.  Please call or e-mail info@weightnomore.com if  you have additional questions.

Will my insurance cover the cost of the program?

  • We are “Out of Network” providers for all PPO insurances.   Those who have this type of coverage can submit their office visit charges to their respective insurance companies for reimbursement.
  •   Although most insurance does not cover “weight control services”  (how absurd)  they often will cover other co-morbid conditions associated with being overweight/obese.
  •  Although appetite suppressant medications are infrequently covered, most of the other medications we use are.

I’ve heard that a new drug for weight-loss , Qnexa, was approved. Is that true and how effective is it?

Q. I’ve heard that a new drug for weight-loss , Qnexa / Qsymia, was approved. Is that true and how effective is it?

A. Qysmia is a combination of two drugs, phentermine, (an appetite suppressant) and topiramate (anti-seizure) that have been on the market for many years. (1959 and 1996) There are several hundred Bariatric (weight-loss) physicians, including myself, who have been using the above combination, as two separate drugs, with great success and safety for well over a decade. Due to strict dosage limitations, Qnexa, will not be nearly as effective for weight-loss compared to using the drugs separately. Because there are potential significant side effects associated with Qysmia, my concern is that physician instruction and patient compliance will not be given the import necessary for safe and effective use.

*Final FDA approval for Qnexa is anticipated around  July 17, 2012

Does Weight No More offer Belviq (Locaserin HCI)?

A. Belviq, the recently FDA approved drug for long term weight-loss, is now available at pharmacies and our offices.

Belqiv Lorcaserin HCIWe plan to use Belviq primarily as an adjunct to other well established combination medications we currently use. The rationale for this is that by itself Belviq is only modestly effective with a reported average weight loss of 7.9%. About 47% of patients lost 11 pounds or more and 22% lost 22 pounds or more.

However, patients who have been unable to to tolerate Topamax (Topiramate) and or Adipex (Phentermine) would be good candidates for a trial of Belviq.
